About Student Ambassador Irene

Hello penguins, welcome back at Clark!

My name is Irene Li, and my pronouns are she/her. Glad and excited to be one of the student ambassadors this year. Taking my third and last academic year at Clark includes one quarter of fully on-campus and one year of online studying experiences, and I am ready to share and help you all with these experiences I have!

My dog Bobo and I studying!

I am an international student from Hong Kong (born and raised.) It is my 2nd year in the states in which I am glad that my cousins and some relatives are here in Washington who help me a lot to settle in here. Although I am the only child of my family, I am loved and supported by my 14 aunties and uncles and about 28 cousins from my mother’s and father’s sides. We all love traveling, and we have family trips annually. We spent a few days in Camano Island this spring. It was so much fun even with a little bit of rain so I can’t wait for the next one!

My family.

As mentioned before, this is my third year at Clark. I am working on my associate degree in science- track 2 (AST2) in the hopes of transferring to the University of Hong Kong or UW to acquire my bachelor’s degree in Architecture. I am studying full-time in civil engineering, with 15-16 credits this and the upcoming quarters. Thanks to meeting my classmates in person, I have found some who share the same class and even the same schedule, so we set up a study group. That is adding color to fight against all odds in the crunch time of studying because after studying alone, you can see how others interpret and understand the concepts and give each other a hand when they are in need.

While working as a student ambassador and studying full time have filled up most of my plate, I enjoy hanging out with my family and friends: doing binge-watching on dramas and movies, shopping, dining out, etc. Apart from socializing with people, I love to spend some time with myself too. For my pastime, I usually listen to music, read a little bit, doing yoga, sketching, and so on. These come in handy to relieve my stress and keep me positive.

I have tried the MBTI, a personality test for 3 times which resulted in all different results. So please don’t freak out when my answer for my personality is: was INFJ, turned to ESFP, become INTJ. Or, I would simply sum up that I am an introvert who is slightly extroverted and would rather stay in than out. Besides, I’m more likely a dog person after living with my aunt and her puppy Bobo because he is so adorable.  He is a chihuahua mixed with pinscher, and his name has a particular meaning of my baby in Chinese. He is currently living with my cousin and I can’t wait to see him again in person. All in all, if you have any questions, want to know more about college, want some college tips, or just want to chat, I’m all ears and always here!
