Meet Ambassador April

Hi Everyone,

I am one of your new ambassadors, April. I am originally from Hermiston, Oregon but have moved around a lot in Oregon until we landed in Washington in 2002(ish). I am a mother of 2 amazing and kind children. Avrie is my oldest son, age 14, and started high school this year. Yes, that does make me feel really old if you are wondering. I also have a very silly son named Skyler who is 11.

I am currently wrapping up my AAS to become an addiction counselor. I choose this field because I have been deeply affected by addiction in many ways. I love working in the field of human services. I feel like I handle the stress of the job really well. I am also starting Clark’s Bachelors of Human Services degree and hope to have that wrapped up in the next couple of years. I feel like as a student you have to really be passionate about the major that you choose. I am so very excited to see where my degrees here at Clark are going to lead me.

I choose to go back to school after 13 years, not only to better my life, but to set a good example for my children. I am the first person in my family to pursue a Bachelors degree and am hoping that I have started a positive set of chain reactions for the next generation in my family.

I hope to get to know more students on campus and to be as helpful as possible! We all know getting started in college can be a challenging process, but us student ambassadors are here to help!
