Subtext Literary Festival

Are you a fan of all things that are literary arts? Then you cannot miss out on Subtext. This festival is held over 3 days (May 15 – 18) and includes everything from writing workshops to author readings.

This festival is put together by our English faculty and is an exciting way to meet with students who have a passion for writing and reading. The great thing about this festival is that everyone is welcome, so bring your friends and family. All events are free and do not require preregistration.

One event that takes place annually during the festival is the Phoenix Unveiling. The Phoenix is Clark’s art and literary magazine that is student run. Students are encouraged to submit works of art in all different types of mediums. As for the literary side, students are encouraged to submit works of fiction, creative non-fiction, and poetry.

In addition to the many of events Subtext has to offer, Clark is fortunate enough to host award-winning author Peter Rock onto our campus. Peter Rock lives in Portland, OR where he writes both short fiction and novels. The Columbia Writer’s Series will be hosting a reading of his works on Thursday, May 18th from 12:00p – 1:00p in PUB 161. After the reading, there will be a Q & A session. It’s a great time to get your questions about the writing process answered.

Come on out! This is sure to be a great week!
