It’s that time of year again! What time of year? Clark College’s Career Days!
Career Days is a four-day long event dedicated to preparing Clark students for a job and helping them obtain one. Of course, you can always get help from Clark all year long when looking for a job–just stop by the Career Center in PUB 002
The highlight during Career Days is the Job Fair. The Job Fair has 70+ employers. These include places like Skamania Lodge, The Boeing Company, the Vancouver Eye Clinic, and FedEx, just to name a few. There will be something for everybody (you can see the list here). All the people there should be ready to talk to you about options at their company and give you the resources to apply. It would be a good idea to bring a resume with you, just in case a company expresses interest right away.
There are so many options for a job. I’ve worked several jobs so far–a teacher’s assistant at NWCT, Ross as a retail associate, Literary Editor at Clark’s literary journal Phoenix, and of course my wonderful job here as an Ambassador (which is coming to an end soon and if I think about that I get emotional, so I should stop). All have been valuable experiences for me and have given me different skills.
I’ll definitely be stopping by the Clothing Closet during Career Days. It has gently used professional clothing for free. All students can get 1 free outfit. I’m applying for internships this summer, and I’ll need some good professional clothing. It’s worth checking out.
An aspect of Career Days I find really intriguing is the Human Library. Human Libraries are events where people can talk to a person, often a person involved in a certain field, or a person that fits a specific stereotype. In the case of Clark’s, it’s an event where students can talk to a professional or alumni to find out more about their career.
There are many events and workshops during Career Days. You can check out the schedule here. I hope to see you there!
